Traffic calming in South Shields

Bang bang crunch!

South Tyneside Council in it's laudable efforts to provide "transparency" on it's deliberations has issued a press release today giving us 48 hours notice of a consultation exercise about traffic calming measure in Green Lane. It doesn't exactly give us a lot of time to make arrangements to go have a look see at how many more humps and bumps are planned for insertion into this rather quiet stretch of road - and how many in West Harton have internet access to see this piece of news in time, Curly wonders?

One only hopes that they are planning to use more of the electronic sign posts that warn drivers to drop below 30 mph rather than the exhaust crunching sleeping policemen!
