As Maurice Saatchi he was the advertising guru responsible for helping the Tories get elected in 1979 and will be remembered for the iconic poster "Labour isn't working" (pictured). Now in a pamphlet produced for the Centre for Policy Studies entitled "In Praise of Ideology" he makes clear his disdain at the direction the party is moving in. In the article he bemoans the decline of ideology and the "myth" of the centre ground, a place where parties will say anything to get elected; let me just recall, did someone once say that politicians "who stand in the middle of the road tend to get run over?"
