Monday, November 06, 2006Christmas already?Early decorations. The world is going mad, is it a result of global warming perhaps? Curly had to work a rather long shift in the corner shop today, after starting at 06.00 this morning it was nearly 21.00 when I stopped by at Asda on the way home to pick up a bottle and get some cash. It was when I left their car park that I noticed a house in Coston Drive, South Shields and they had their Christmas decorations and lights up already! Crikey, we haven't even got to Remembrance Sunday yet, we only left Guy Fawkes Night behind less than 24 hours ago, and the Christian calendar has Advent Sunday falling on the 3rd. December this year, as far as I'm concerned that's the "official" start of the Christmas season. Being a bit of an old fashioned traditionalist I don't put a tree up or decorate the house until at least ten days before Christmas, certainly no sooner. Curly wonders if this house is the first in South Shields to go bonkers this year, perhaps a local newshound can find out? |
