The new Seaview Primary and Bamburgh Special School in Norham Avenue, South Shields will not be opening to pupils until next Monday. Why is this? This is because South Tyneside Council might have used the same builders responsible for the fiasco that we call the New Wembley Stadium, in other words, they haven't finished building the school yet! Somewhere amongst the organisation there will be a project manager, a clerk of works, a finance officer, and ward councillors (who should have been screaming some months ago.) They should all hang their heads in shame that a new innovative educational facility cannot be readied in time for the new school term. Perhaps thay should all take a trip - at their own expense - to the wonderful Asburton Grove Arab Emirates Stadium (home of Arsenal FC) to see how a huge fantastic facility can be knocked together in a relatively short time and inside the schedule! I'm surprised that the Lead Member for Lifelong Learning has had nothing to say on the matter. Now where is Jimmy going to dine this week? Link South Tyneside Council |
