![]() Wednesday, September 06, 2006Remember Margaret Thatcher?![]() Signs of deja vu from 1990 In 1990 whilst the Conservative Party were squabbling over the leadership issue, Margaret Thatcher attended a conference in Paris. She had earlier been advised by Lord Carrington and Willie Whitelaw, as well as her husband Dennis, that it might be wise to consider stepping down and handing the reigns over to someone else. However, she decided that she was the only one who could solve the country's problems at the time and quickly became known as TINA (There Is No Alternative!). Not long after her return from Paris she was (metaphorically) knifed by Michael Heseltine and her Premiership ended.
