Pub yobs
Pub yobs named and shamed!
I note from a story on the front page of this evening's Shields Gazette that another anti-crime partnership between publicans, South Tyneside Council, and Northumbria Police have a website promoting South Shields Pubwatch. The website is to feature some of the yobs who have been banned from our public houses for anti-social or criminal behaviour. They are to be named and shamed in the website, yet again our friend Inspector Simon Charlton is the spokesperson for the local police and he says that the website will isolate the offenders.
Now wouldn't it be nice if we could get the same co-operation between the police, South Tyneside Homes and the Council, so we could name and shame those who Inspector Charlton has a very long list of charges and arrests for? I will start by naming and shaming Paul Wilding, the Chief Executive of South Tyneside Homes, and Cllr. Michael Claire, neither of whom seem able to answer an email from me after more than a month! I have been away for a long weekend and now Irene Lucas, the Chief Executive of South Tyneside Council is plodding the same path. She sent me an email last week promising that she would get the answers for me - still waiting for the information, no doubt I will have to send ANOTHER reminder.
I have a nagging doubt that this partnership to combat crime on our estates will ever succeed when all of the running is done by one side.

" The violent and aggressive minority will be severely dealt with, and those responsible will be banned from all town centre bars and clubs".
