Sunday, July 09, 2006Sixties concertSwinging Sixties at the seaside! Nostalgia was the order of the afternoon as the crowds massed in the Bents Park, South Shields for a very popular Sunday afternoon free concert. Featuring the sounds of the sixties, old (and new) fans of British R&B music were soon rocking along with Dave Berry, The Animals, Zoot Money, and the Troggs. The weather was always threatening rain, however it never materialised and the huge crowd brought their deck chairs and picnics, as well as a few tinned beverages, and were well entertained. Younger members of the family were also catered for with giant slides, kiddies rides, and a bouncy castle. Visitors who have arrived here from my main site can be assured that I will try to keep you up to date with what is happening in South Shields during the summer season (work permitting).
