Shearer video
The Shearer video they didn't want U2 see!
As a Sunderland fan, and in the absence of any groundbreaking political news or events in South Shields today, I bring you the video that Alan Shearer and his agents SFX Management didn't want you to see. The deadpan former England captain and striker has been stunned to find that a video of him singing along to U2's song "Elevation" whilst driving around Ponteland has found it's way on to over 60 websites, and in a fit of pique instructed SFX and their lawyers to have it removed. Little did he know that the video, shot on a mobile camera, was uploaded by his daughter Chloe, 13, onto her Bebo homepage, a social networking site popular with teenagers.
The video obviously caused the old man problems and in a statement his management company SFX said;
"We have not given permission for this to be used, we are seeking legal action to get it removed."
A day later, however, there was at least a suggestion that they were beginning to see the funny side. This time a spokesman said:
"We have looked into this on Alan's behalf and realised that the footage is completely innocent and is capturing Alan spending time with his family.
As a result we will be taking no action."
Well Curly couldn't resist the temptation of going viral with this video, once it is in the public domain it is extremely difficult to prevent it spreading! His crooning, by the way, is worse than his post match analysis, and that takes some doing!
Note to South Tyneside Council - please DO NOT be tempted to book this man for the Bents Park!!
