Pressure on Prescott

Tories keep pressure on Prescott over dome.

Shadow Culture Secretary Hugo Swire has written to Sir Philip Mawer, the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, in the light of weekend revelations that Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott had received an elaborate cowboy costume including tooled leather boots, a stetson hat, boot spurs, and a leather belt bearing the insignia JP from
Philip Anschutz on a visit to the American billionaire's ranch last year. It is speculated that these outfits can be worth as much as 10,800 pounds.

Swire asks Sir Philip if he would be considering "undeclared gifts or undeclared hospitality on this or other occasions" he also questions whether duty should have been paid on the importation of any gifts.

Prescott's stay at Anschutz's ranch is already being investigated to establish if there were any conflicts of interest.

After eventually declaring the hospitality in the Register of Member's Interests and making a charitable donation (with taxpayers' money) we all wait to see the end of this saga - Prezza on a horse riding off into the sunset!

Better find a very big Clydesdale.
