Councillors on parade

Councillors on parade

Anyone could be excused for thinking that the Labour members of South Tyneside Council were dreaming that they were in Hawaii today, the weather was typically tropical and so were the colourful garlands festooned around the necks. I was a little taken by the suits and dark shades of Paul Waggott and the Mayor Ed Malcolm, perhaps they were in tune with the news flavour of the week - "gangsters".

I had taken a position on Fowler Street just about opposite the Town Hall and hogging the pedestrian refuge in the middle of the road, it seemed as good a position as any to catch some good "shots" from (pardon the pun), I didn't expect to be so recognisable, perhaps at the next event I will not wear a Sunderland shirt (giving the game away).

You could hear certain councillors almost squealing "Oh no, it's Curly, we'll end up on his website!" Some others were positively sticking their faces into the camera, and Missy Curly would like to thank Cllr. Foreman for handing out flags for the family to wave.

Image Hosted by Cllr. Ed Malcolm, the Mayor, as pictured in "The Godfather"

Image Hosted by "The Two Johnnies", Cllrs. "Woodie" Wood and "town centre" John Anglin.

Image Hosted by "School dinnerman" Cllr. Foreman - you can see he's had a bellyfull recently!

Here are some other pictures of the parade as promised, it should bring a little smile and some cheer after the terrible football match we've just watched.
