England flag on council vehicles

Not in South Tyneside, but North Tyneside. Elected mayor of North Tyneside John Harrison, said: "We're obviously backing England to do us all proud and in particular pass on our best wishes to Michael Carrick, who is a North Tyneside lad." Having decided it is o.k. for council vehicles to fly the flag for England on the other side of the river, I find it hard to believe that such a concession will be made by South Tyneside Council, it was difficult enough to get a flag onto the Town Hall! (one never knows, of course, we seem to have a "listening" council.) As far as England's first game went, we got a win, rather unconvincingly, but it's thre points in the bag and we're up and running. Opponents Paraguay took the game to England in the second half, and some strange tactical substitutions by Sven Goren Errikson resulted in a nervous display under pressure. The Mexican referee was shocking! Link BBC News BBC Sport |
