Cookson Parade enjoys good weather!
_________________________________________________________________
The weather stayed fine this afternoon for the Cookson Parade from the Town Hall to the Bents Park. Threatened rain did not appear and the crowds lining the streets enjoyed a mini spectacle which included entrants from far and wide, including some who will line up to perform in tomorrow's multicultural Mela. Ray Spencer, the Director of the Customs House hosted the parade in his guise of Tommy the Trumpeter, and aided by the Mayor Cllr. Bill Lynch started the event by releasing hundreds of balloons which were carried across the North Sea on a gentle southerly breeze.
