"Sleazemaster General" arrested!
Tony Blair's tennis partner, long time friend, and closest ally Lord Michael Levy was arrested today (but not charged) by Metroploitan Police in the ongoing cash for peerages enquiry. I don't suppose the Labour Party "borrowed" too much from North-East millionaires though.
Parliamentary business was closed early on an unopposed adjournment motion move by the Lib-Dems, thus saving the government from the embarassment of making a statement today, no doubt the Leader of the House, Jack Straw, will make a non-commital speech tomorrow rightly claiming that he cannot add anything as matters are sub-judice.
This story is likely to escalate and one must wonder at what point the Prime Minister himself will be"invited" to answer questions from Inspector Knacker of the Yard? The net is certainly closing in on Nu-Labour now.
Guido Fawkes has a long and detailed piece in his blog today covering all aspects of the affair, many thanks to Theo Spark for the graphic.
Does the news these days seem like deja vu and the last months of John Majors term?
